Galhia moved to NYC just two years ago from Haïti and started to attend a new High school. She had the opportunity to meet someone who became like a sister to her, Eva. As they got closer, they realized how much they had in common. They both grew up in communities facing continuous difficulties and challenges. From a young age, they understood the importance of becoming active participants in making a change in their communities. They have seen how cruel the world could be and are determined to make a change. Today, Galhia and Eva wish to do as much as possible to make a difference and change the world, even if it starts with small steps.

I grew up in Haïti, one of the poorest countries in the world. I have seen how violence and poverty have destroyed my beloved country. Education was scarce, leaving many without hope for a better future. Moving to the United States opened my eyes to the crucial role education plays in society. It made me realize that lack of education was at the root of Haiti's struggles. Now, I'm determined to make a difference. I believe in the power of education to change lives. That's why I'm passionate about advocating for girls who are denied opportunities. Together, we can create a world where every child has the opportunity to learn and thrive.

Witnessing educational challenges in Greece and Puerto Rico inspired me to found MAD Girls, a non-profit dedicated to empowering children through education. In Greece, I saw how limited resources and opportunities could hinder a child's educational journey. Similarly, in Puerto Rico, many children face challenges in accessing quality education due to economic and infrastructural barriers. Despite these differences, one common thread remains: the transformative power of education. From a young age, I was taught the importance of giving back, whether through a smile, a hug, or more tangible means. Our mission is to bridge the educational gaps in these regions, providing resources, support, and opportunities for children to thrive academically. By focusing on education, we aim to empower the next generation, giving them the tools they need to create better futures for themselves and their communities. Through MAD Girls, we strive to make a lasting impact, ensuring that every child has the chance to learn, grow, and succeed.
